And now — the backstory
This beautifully designed introduction is sent to the players before the game.
People come to Kassel to rest their souls. That is how the following guests ended up here: fashion model Schiffer with her bodyguard Wolf, biathlete Hartman, businesswoman Weiss, fruit seller Schwartz, pharmacist Kruger, maid Schöne, fairytale collector Erzächler, music producer Silver with his wife, and adventure seeker Neumann.
Everything would have been perfectly ordinary…
If not for miracles. Marketing miracles.
The “Sweet Dreams” supermarket launched an unprecedented receipt lottery.
7 lucky winners received stays at the “Kind Fairytale” Hotel!
Why is this such a big deal?
Ahhh… you simply haven’t heard of this hotel.
Strange, it’s known all over the world.
Perhaps you just don’t have enough money to even spend a couple of hours there.
Because the “Kind Fairytale” Hotel has real magic. Powerful. Unpredictable. Dangerous. And different for everyone.
And so, in this extraordinary place, our heroes find themselves together: a fashion model, a bodyguard, a biathlete, a businesswoman, a pharmacist, a fruit seller, a fairytale collector, a producer with his wife, a maid, and an adventure seeker.
Did we forget anyone?
Ah yes.
The hotel manager Rumpel.
Remember that name.
An unpleasant, bald little man in a pointy hat. He greeted everyone with a smile that was almost a smirk and immediately dragged the guests to look at the cupboards lining the walls. Inside was everything imaginable: a crystal slipper, silver bullets, magic orbs, mirrors, the heart of a deer (the very one the huntsman brought to the Evil Queen), baskets of pies, and shelves upon shelves of replicas of famous magical objects from well-known fairytales. There were several cupboards.
One of them was tightly shut.
“This one is better left unopened,” the manager warned. “It’s a gateway to another world. You call it the land of fairytales…”
“Could you perhaps show us something truly magical?” Fairytale collector Erzächler tore himself away from his notebook and looked at Rumpel with doubt.
“Why not?” Rumpel smiled slyly, whispered strange words and the locked cupboard suddenly turned to ice.
“The passage between worlds is now sealed, and you are my prisoners.
Just kidding.”
Everyone froze for a moment… and immediately wished they could go to their rooms and rest after the journey.
But, as usual that was not to be.
On the wall above the staircase, a blood-red message appeared:
“The time of reckoning has come.
The heart will not beat for long.”
At dinner, the strange events continued.
And they were now more frightening than strange.
Mr Wolf suddenly discovered something floating in his soup.
A heart.
The bodyguard began to shake, and fearing he might faint, the guests led him outside…
And there, in the snow, lay fashion model Schiffer in a pool of her own blood.
“As you can see, ladies and gentlemen,” Rumpel’s voice echoed through the night, “the fairytale is over. And I suggest you make a deal… Play, shall we say, one small game with me.”
